The Bechstein-Bruckner Competition Austria will be held for the 4th time. Both rounds are open to the public and admission is free.

C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG is organising the 4th Bechstein-Bruckner Competition Austria in cooperation with the Brucknerhaus Linz. The competition aims to promote young pianists studying at Austrian music academies and conservatories that offer a solo piano course.

The competition will be held on 10 and 11 June 202 4 from 10:00 a.m. each day on a C. Bechstein concert grand piano D 282 in the Middle Hall of the Brucknerhaus. The compulsory pieces in the first round are Anton Bruckner's Stille Betrachtung an einem Herbstabende, a character piece in F minor that he composed in Linz in 1863 for his piano student Emma Thanner, and in the second round Wolfgang Amadé Mozart's Piano Sonata no. 13 in B flat major, which was also composed in Linz in November 1783 and whose first movement the great Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda "counted among the most beautiful [...] in the piano literature" .

Both rounds of the competition are open to the public and admission is free.
