Barbarakapelle Tanz

Contemporary performances from church to church.

Contemporary improvisation art in relation to church rituals is the theme of this music performance project. Inspired by the liturgical process, pilgrimage music, a prelude, a performative examination of a text, a sculpture or a picture and a postlude will be created as instant compositions in the respective church spaces. The team of artists is thus making reference to Anton Bruckner, who was far better known in his time as an improviser than as a composer.

Each location contains different images, texts and sculptures that encourage viewers to reflect, remember or interpret. The musical/performative pilgrimage is also intended to be participatory. The performance pilgrims can choose Bible verses or works of art along the way. The dancers and musicians enter into dialogue with these texts and figures and bring them to life as music and movement performances.
