Historical flair in a modern setting Theater events at the Schauspielhaus (playhouse) in Linz

Schauspielhaus Linz is the playhouse on the promenade and is home to the productions of the Linz State Theater. Plays such as ‘Life of Galileo’ by Bertold Brecht and William Shakespeare’s ‘The Storm’ are on the diverse programme at Schauspielhaus Linz.

The playhouse’s reopening in 2017 put the spotlight on the theater’s original 1950s flair while improving its amenities and acoustics for the audience. The theater now has a new motto – ‘Better seating, better acoustics, a better view’ – and can accommodate 500 guests.

Plays have been staged at the State Theater on the promenade since 1803. Together with the Kammerspiele venue and the musical theater in Volksgarten park, Linz State Theater not only offers plays but also musicals, dance and operas.
