Do you want to research, discover, experiment and investigate? Then Linz's museum of the future, Ars Electronica Center (AEC), is the perfect place for you. The UNESCO City of Media Arts at the heart of Europe offers technological pioneering combined with visionary media arts by the Danube. AEC is the gravitational centre of Linz, with its annual festival in September and the renowned Prix Ars Electronica. The striking building situated directly by the Danube houses impressive exhibitions on art, technology and society. Here, you can watch artificial intelligence thinking, train self-driving cars, program robots, print in 3D or process your own DNA with the gene scissors.

Tip: Linz-Card holders receive free admission to the Ars Electronica Center and many other discounts!

Ars Electronica Deep Space 8K

Immerse yourself in three-dimensional universes and let yourself be fascinated by 16 x 9 metre, ultra-high-resolution images! In Deep Space, you can take off on a flight into the universe or board down the Streif slope at 140 km/h, among other things. After a technical makeover Ars Electronica Deep Space can now show images in 8K resolution. Enjoy even sharper pictures, brighter colors and starker contrast in the new Deep Space 8K.

Kids' Research Laboratory

The Kids’ Research Laboratory for kids aged 4 to 8 gives the young visitors the opportunity to tinker, make music, draw, program and experiment. Hands-on encounters with unusual devices and fascinating experimental installations are the young explorers’ gateways to discovery across Ars Electronica’s entire thematic spectrum: the interplay of the virtual and the real world, the enchantment of light and shadow and more.

Light up the facade

It is not only the advanced concept of Ars Electronica Center that makes it unique, but also its distinctive design. The building's architecture and LED facade, which transforms the museum of the future into a colourful play of lights at night, are fascinating. Via the facade terminal by the Danube, you can light up 5,100 m² of the facade of Ars Electronica Center using a smartphone or laptop.

Ars Electronica Festival

Once a year, the Ars Electronica Festival takes place, famous far beyond Austria's borders. Artists, researchers and scientists from all over the world are invited to Linz to focus on a particular topic in lectures, workshops, exhibitions and symposia. Not only the Ars Electronica Center but also other locations set a spotlight on media arts in Linz.
