Wednesday, 25.6.2025, 10:00 to 18:00 Michael Kienzer: Outside, twelve Pieces

Michael Kienzer

The exhibition by Michael Kienzer in the outdoor area of the Schlossmuseum Linz provides an insight into the multifaceted work of the Austrian artist through twelve works. Kienzer, known for his exploration of space, architecture and sculpture, presents both current works and a retrospective cross-section of his artistic development.

Kienzer's works do not simply blend into the space, but create a symbiotic relationship with their surroundings. In his work, the exterior space becomes an active component of the art. By adding, leaning and supporting his objects, for example, the existing architecture becomes part of the art production. For Kienzer, these are sculptural gestures that dissolve the traditional concept of sculpture and redefine space.

Kienzer is not only concerned with the formal examination of materials, but also with reflecting on their functions and characteristics. The exhibition encourages us to question and reinterpret familiar ways of looking at things.

His works are artistic interventions that interact with the location. The artist's aim is to give the exhibition and the space, which extends across the grounds of the Schlossmuseum, a structure in terms of content and form. The space itself thus becomes a sculpture that unfolds anew.
