Tuesday, 5.7.2022, from 19:30 Hans Eichhorn: From Paris
In March 2010, Hans Eichhorn spent four weeks in Paris, supported by a grant from the City of Linz, following in the footsteps of the German-French painter WOLS (1913 – 1951). He works intensively on his project “Pariser Bildpostpassagen”, the production of 117 (received), about 20 x 30 cm large picture postcards, which he extracts from discarded cardboard boxes, overpaints and describes and sends them in the form of literary notes to Regina Pintar / the StifterHaus. In his notes and observations, prosaminiatures of everyday situations, street scenes and works of art visited in museums, we find references to Walter Benjamin’s “Passagenwerk” (made between 1927 and 1940). Eichhorn’s reworked finds tell in condensed and poetic form of a Paris from the point of view of the flaneur.
An accompanying publication will be published to accompany the exhibition.
