The Landestheater Linz is composed of a Schauspielhaus and Kammerspiele on the Promenade, Musiktheater am Volksgarten and u\hof: Theatre for young audiences, and offers a broad entertainment repertoire. While classics and the works of young Austrian writers are presented in the playhouse on the Promenade, the Landestheater Linz is dedicated to stories, images and sounds famous and forgotten, surprising and never before experienced. Musiktheater am Volksgarten in Linz is currently the most modern opera house in Europe. Excellent acoustics, a high degree of comfort and multimedia productions have been inspiring visitors since the opera house opened in 2013. Young theatre fans enjoy the children's and youth theatre u\hof. Productions full of playful humour and music attract countless spectators both young and old every year.
The concert and event hall Brucknerhaus, named after Anton Bruckner, has stunning acoustics. In addition to a classical programme, the annual Bruckner Festival and the Linzer Klangwolken invite visitors to enjoy music in a unique ambience.
Posthof – Contemporary culture at the harbour
Originally a branch of the old Linz post office, the Posthof site in the harbour district was later converted and is now a stage for national and international musical, dance, theatrical, cabaret, and literary events. The focus is on contemporary culture and presenting young (home-grown) talent. Around 250 individual events take place at the Posthof every year, in addition to regular event series, such as the Black Humour Festival and the Ahoi! Pop Festival.
Kuddelmuddel is a place where children can experience culture, but can also help to actively create it. The programme includes puppet theatre, children's theatre, music performances and workshops.
Theater Phönix is one of the most important independent stages in Austria. On three stages, contemporary plays, reinterpretations of classic plays and commissioned plays, as well as interdisciplinary projects are presented. Theater Phönix also offers young writers a platform for their work.
Theater in der Innenstadt
Entertaining plays, cabarets, and musicals are presented in a family atmosphere at Theater in der Innenstadt. The art nouveau auditorium furnished with tables ensures a pleasant ambience and a special theatre evening. Theater in der Innenstadt can also be rented for events and parties.
Linzer Kellertheater is situated directly on Linz's Hauptplatz. The stage is used mainly for presenting popular comedies and fairy tales for children.
The Kulturzentrum Hof presents concerts, floor shows, cabarets, plays, and readings. Courses and seminars are also offered here. The focus is on giving the new, unknown, and the less established a chance. The Kulturzentrum Hof also offers performances for children and families.
Founded by students of the University of Arts and Industrial Design Linz, the Stadtwerkstatt has developed into a cultural and communication centre. Regular musical events, as well as other artistic and cultural activities, are organised here.
Tribüne Linz – Theater am Südbahnhofmarkt
Tribüne Linz offers a broad, varied and exciting programme of the theatre's own productions and guest events by independent artists. In addition to evening events, morning events for school pupils are also available.
Theater Maestro is incredibly diverse. Founded as a ballet school with its own theatre, the rooms can also be used for theatre workshops, dance courses or exhibitions.
Pupppenkistlbühne in Linz-Urfahr
With its productions for children aged 3 to 10, the Pupppenkistlbühne enriches the theatre scene in Linz. Puppet theatre, Kasperl theatre and object theatre as well as clown theatre and workshops are presented for the little ones here.
ATW – Austria Theater Werke
ATW (Austria Theater Werke) offers theatre performances, music, magic and mime.
KAPU is an independent cultural centre and organises events for alternative youth culture from the region, making it a significant contributor to the independent scene in Linz. Hip hop, rock and punk concerts by local and international bands are staged.
